Happy New Year!

It's been a crazy few weeks here at the farm. December has been unseasonably cold and up here at 1500 feet, we've had a ton of snow. Josh is from Colorado and our current woofer is from Chicago, so they have no qualms about all this cold weather. Christie and me, on the other hand, are ready for warmer days (I don't mind the cold, but since I don't live on the farm, driving up and down the mountain kind of freaks me out). The pigs haven't seem to mind at all, they still root around in the snow and snuggle up with each other for warmth in their luxurious straw beds at night. We have one small batch of chickens on the farm (they were a special order from a customer, normally we don't raise chickens in the Winter because they don't really 'pasture') and they have hardly left their coop to venture out into the snow. They seem to be thoroughly enjoying their heat lamps and breakfast in bed. We have a pair of Guinea Fowl at the farm and they have been a source of much entertainment for us through all this Winter weather. During the first snow, they both climbed to the peak of the barn and just sang out, completely confused about the crazy white stuff falling from the sky. During the second snow, they were practicing sliding down the roof of the chicken coop together. It was too funny, but maybe you just had to be there.

We've all been sick over the past few weeks, with Christie even catching pneumonia! After generously sharing our germs with each other, we all seem to be on the mend. New Year's Eve was a quiet evening, we watched Love Actually and only realized we had managed to stay up until midnight when we head fireworks that were probably gunshots.

New Years Day, our families gathered together on the farm and we kicked off the New Year with starting the Whole30 together for the third time. 2016 was a great year in many ways, and we have a lot to be thankful for. The farm is growing, the kids aren't babies anymore, and we're learning and expanding so much as adults, parents, and farmers.

From our families to yours,

We wish you the best in 2017! Happy New Year!
